Battlegrounds Mobile India records 34 million players within a week of launch

South Korean video game developer Krafton said that Battlegrounds Mobile India has surpassed 34M registered users within a week after its release via Google Play. The game is still to be launched on Apple iOS. Following a formal launch on July 2, the company has recorded 34 million registered users, a peak of 16 million daily active users, and 2.4 million peak concurrent users.

The game is currently ranked number one among ‘top free games’ on Google Play Store. Earlier, the company had said that nearly 20 million users had tried the game in India during its pre-launch phase.

Wooyol Lim, Head of BATTLEGROUNDS MOBILE Division, at KRAFTON, Inc., said, “We would like to thank our users in India for their support. We are committed to bringing new and more entertaining contents to BATTLEGROUNDS MOBILE INDIA to bring greater joy to our fans and players. With BATTLEGROUNDS MOBILE INDIA as a start, KRAFTON hopes to grow and further develop together with India’s video gaming and esports industry”

The game’s launch party held on July 8 had a concurrent viewership peak of about 500,000 on the first day on YouTube. Krafton will host BGMI esports tournaments to expand the Battlegrounds IP further in India, it said. BGMI was launched by Krafton in India following the ban on Pubg last year as it was published by Chinese internet major Tencent.
